Nim’s Island (2008)

One of 2008’s most successful children’s classic has to be Nim’s Island. This family oriented adventure comedy has all the goods to be called a captivating experience and light hearted cinema experience.

Starring acclaimed actors like Jodie Foster, Abigail Breslin and Gerard Butler, the movie tells a story of a little girl who inhabits an isolated island alone with her father and gets to communicate with the reclusive author of a novel that she is reading. This Australian fantasy flick is based on Wendy Orr’s book on the same title.

As her scientist father Jack Rusoe (Gerard Butler) goes missing, little Nim (Abigail Breslin) seeks the author of her most loved adventure series for help. Alexander Rover (Jodie Foster) is the author of Nim’s favorite adventure series and is a complete agoraphobic, residing in San Francisco. Fighting back her fears, Alexander is touched by the plea and does everything to overcome her deepest fears as she goes on the adventure of a lifetime in search of Nim.

At the same time, Nim tries to overcome the fear of losing her father. In all this frenzy of fighting the fears, a cruise ship company comes along and threats Nim that they will invade the island.

The movie is an adventure ride worth having and that explains the grossing of $100 million for this movie so far. Now available in Blue Ray, Nim’s Island is our recommendation for a perfect movie night!
